“The days slip by within this magical repetition of sun and storm and cold starlit nights…”

“Great black storm clouds coming this way over Taos mountain – thunder rumbling – sudden gust of wind makes the trees sound like rushing water – And as yet not a drop of rain – tho much needed. It is a strange and miraculous country – every day brilliant sun and this black violence usually somewhere on the horizon, appearing as tho by magic – disappearing as quickly – perhaps it strikes where you are – perhaps a quarter of a mile or less away — The days slip by within this magical repetition of sun and storm and cold starlit nights – all too fast – So much so, that if one had not made a few photographs – paintings standing on the mantel – they might be a dreamlike mirage….”
